  1. Brilliant idea. I think for the average dog owners ,really basic instruction is required. I hope you do more of these . I'll still watch despite 45 years training behind me. You're way better with the humans then I am. I get annoyed with people who are clueless. My bad ,obviously 🙂 . Thanks Tom 🙂

  2. This video really helped me out, but at what distance from your leg is the heel not a heel anymore? When I am training my dog I try to have him a foot away from my left leg so he stays out of my way, but often he will branch out a bit more until he’s at least a yard out, to which I reel him back in. Is that the right thing for me to do or is there a better technique that you have found?

  3. I'll offer this from having handled dozens of dogs at shelters and rescue events (aside from my own dogs over 25 years). This fellow is showing you what, why, and how to 'heel' a dog. A dog that can walk at heel is one the eay toward a 'structured walk', which you can look up on your own. But 'structured walk' and the 'place' command are called the 2 important commands by rehabbers of troubled dogs. So pay attention for YOUR DOG …. it's not for you… it's for your dog !
