Start watching, stop, subscribe, keep watching. Very nice video. Love that your Goldy is there with you to share the solitude. Thanks for a very nice video. My wife and i are in prep for the same thing here in the US.
Love your cabin! It's good to be there in the country, fresh air, listening to nature away from the noise and business of the cities, etc. I always loved just hiking, exploring, laying on the ground looking up at the tree's. Thanks for sharing!
I think using the word hypocrisy is a bit severe. Contradictions and compromises, yes. Just to make your coffee and tools, for starters. But while hypocrisy by definition is saying one thing and doing the opposite and therefore, technically fitting your use of the word, it's also pejorative. And that is something you're not. At least in this case…
I really admire the thought and effort you put into the shooting and editing of this video. At over 40 minutes, I was sure that I'd lose interest and move onto something else, but it kept me engaged throughout. Not only that, but I learned a number of building tricks that I will actually remember because you were silent while you worked on your project. I could watch what you were doing and think about why you did what you did, like hammering nails partially into the wood support before positioning it, without having to filter out the glut of information that's always given during DIY shows.
The balance you demonstrate by allowing yourself some modern conveniences, like spices and good coffee, makes your journey incredibly satisfying for me to watch because I really appreciate how efficient and practical your solutions are. Thank you for sharing this.
ya i lived off the grid kinda for like 2 years… the one thing that amazed me was when i moved back to a house with real electricity how noisy it was ..lol my biggest problems i had was keeping food either from freezing in the winter or spoiling in the summer months… i kinda miss it but modern living is way easier
From our cabin to yours, THANKS for your words about the near-constant compromises we find ourselves making in choosing this lifestyle while living in the modern world. I'll confess, your video up until you started talking at the end, had me feeling like you were doing it so purely, and I'm here "cheating" with my electricity, my well, & nice espresso machine (my husband's treasure)–though we, too, still have just cellular for internet. Thanks for that honesty. Your videos are a genuine delight! (And an inspiration…these make me want to start sharing my adventures out here again!) Thanks all around!
I enjoyed watching the video. Not a lifestyle for me, but to each his own. I would take Coconut Grove, in Miami over northern Ontario anytime. Again, no shade in the direction of our northern neighbors. I just prefer a warmer climate.
You know you like someone when you like their video before you even watch it.

He looks like Kevin Costner's brother.
Been around since before the viral video. Really appreciate your channel and what you're about. Keep it up!
I was amazed you didn't show the TV room with built in cinema.
791 losers who wouldn't last 5 minutes if they got thrown out of mommys basement.
Awesome channel. Keep up the good work. This is my dream you are living 🙂
You lost my subscription when you said "reduce my footprint"! But, your beautiful pup owns a good dad!!

I believe no one is better than a dog to be a real friend in such a living.

Nice and relaxing watching a man and his dog just living. No internet or t.v. or crap.
you are insane if you’re like 2 hours away from everything, otherwise that’s a nice ass cabin well done.
If you heat the oil in the pan first it uses less oil.
Looks fun as hell.
